Margaret Wise Brown was born on May 23, 1910. 112 years ago today. My grandparents were both born in 1909 – so I think of them when I imagine what MWB would have been like had she lived an average lifespan. My grandparents were relatively active people, we went on vacations together, celebrated holidays, traveled together. They were funny people. weird funny – not humorous. But that’s another story.

I have been a amature genealogist for over 30 years and learning about people and their lives is sort of my hobby. I created a family tree on Ancestry.com for Margaret Wise Brown’s family. It’s pretty interesting. Her father’s family were politicians going back to Senator (1789-91)John Brown -who introduced the bill granting statehood to Kentucky.

On her 100th birthday I created a poster and mail art call to celebrate her life. The slideshow has the mail art I recieved – and the poster & stamps I made.
